What do you actually charge?
Every rate on this site is a compiled range pulled from public sources. That's the honest starting point, and it isn't good enough.
What we're building
Real numbers from people doing the work.
One survey a year, per trade. We publish the median, the range, the sample size and the method โ free, no email wall, including for your competitors. Nobody in this space has done it, which is exactly why the numbers everyone quotes are guesses.
Why bother telling a website your prices
Because you already looked it up.
Every person starting one of these businesses spends a week trying to find out what to charge, gets four contradictory answers in a Facebook group, and picks a number out of the air. Most pick low. A lot of them are out of business in two years because of it.
Thirty seconds of your time makes the next person's guess a lot better than yours was.
What it looks like when it works
One home-services site collected 9,171 real quote submissions and published a cost index off them โ median, interquartile range, outliers excluded and stated, findings only reported where they had at least 100 responses in a state.
It became the most-cited page they own, and no competitor can copy it, because you can't fake a dataset you didn't collect. That's the thing we're pointing at.
What we'd ask you
- Your trade, and the metro or state you work in.
- Your normal rate โ hourly, per job, or per unit, whichever way you actually quote.
- What a typical job comes to, and roughly how long it takes.
- How long you've been running it, and whether it's just you.
No name, no business name, no email required. We don't want them and we're not building a list off this.
This isn't live yet. The survey opens once the site has enough readers for the results to mean something โ a hundred responses in one trade is useful, eleven is noise, and publishing eleven as if it were a hundred is exactly the kind of thing this site exists to argue against.
Want to be told when it opens? Email us and we'll come find you.
What we'll publish, and what we won't
Published: median, range, sample size per trade and region, the questions we asked, and what we excluded.
Never published: anything that could identify one respondent. If a trade in a region has fewer than a hundred responses, that cell stays empty rather than getting filled with a number we don't trust.
