Do you actually need software yet?

Four questions. If the answer is no, we'll tell you that and show you what to use instead โ€” most people asking this question aren't ready, and buying early just adds a bill.

Nothing is sent anywhere. This runs on your phone.

What we actually think about this

Field service software is genuinely good once you're busy. It's also sold hard to people who have four customers and don't need it, and a $29 monthly bill on four customers is real money.

The honest line is somewhere around ten repeat customers, or the first day you have someone else working for you. Before that, a notes app and the free tools on this site do the same job for nothing.

What it costs

Starting prices for one person, checked August 2026. Every one of these charges more per extra user, and they all run promotions, so treat these as the shape of it rather than a quote.

SoftwareStarts aroundBest at
Jobber$29/moSolo and small crews. Easiest to learn.
Housecall Pro$79/moTaking payment on the spot, customer texting.
FieldPulse$99/moCrews you need to track and dispatch.

All three have free trials. Use the trial on a real week of work, not a quiet one โ€” that's the only way you find out if it fits.

The test that actually matters

Add up what it costs a year. Jobber at $29 is $348. Then ask one question: will this get me one more customer, or stop me losing one?

On a biweekly cleaning house at $150, one customer is $3,900 a year. If the software wins you one, it paid for itself eleven times over. If you can't see how it would, you're not there yet, and that's a fine place to be.

How we make money on this

If you sign up through a link on this page, that company pays us. Your price is exactly the same, and we'd rather tell you not to buy than have you cancel in a month. That's why the tool above has a "not yet" answer in it.

Get told when a new tool goes up.

We add a tool every couple of weeks. Mileage log, week schedule, customer list and a few more are next. One short email when each one is ready.

Unsubscribe any time. We never sell or share it.
